It has been an incredible honor and a truly unforgettable experience to contribute to the renovation of the Capitol Theatre. A true gem located in downtown Flint, the Capitol Theatre was designed by the renowned architect John Eberson and first opened its doors in 1928. In 1977, the Farah Family, led by George Farah Sr., purchased the theater, which they operated and preserved for 40 years. In 2015, the theater was sold to The Friends of the Capitol Theatre. Thanks to the generous support of The C.S. Mott Foundation, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and the Hagerman Foundation, the theater underwent a more than $30 million restoration, completed in 2017. The renovation honored the Farah Family’s vision of preserving the theater’s original design — stunning Italian Renaissance architecture with a Mediterranean garden feel. This project was a dream come true, blending modern amenities with timeless elegance within its historic facade.
